The workshop is to take the first step towards a national SFM capacity building program by bringing the stakeholders together to discuss the long term vision for the curriculum development at MFS and CFDTC. The workshop is placed in The Hotel Amara, Nay Pyi Taw.

The workshop is started in 9AM. The opening statement for the Workshop was provided by Dr Nyi Nyi Kyaw, Director General of Forest Department.Then, the objectives of the workshop was presented by Mr.Soren, FAO Senior Technical Advisor.

At the beginning of the Workshop the Director of TRDD gave a presentation on current status of curricula and ambition to modernize and strengthen Central Forestry Development Training Centre (CFDTC) and Myanmar Forest School (MFS).

From FAO Mr Soren Dalsgaard, Senior technical Advisor of SLM_GEF Project FAO, outlined how the planned activities of the SLM-GEF project are well aligned to support the curriculum development.

Mr Saw Htun,  Deputy Country Programmme Director WCS, presented how the GEF “Strengthening sustainability of Protected Area Management in Myanmar” is implementing its capacity development programme for MFS and FD Staff.

WCS intention is to scale up capacity building for protected area management by working through Nature and Wildlife Conservation Division to support MFS, CFDTC and UoF in upgrading their curricula.

The Principal of Myanmar Forest School, Mr Kyaw Htun and the Principal of CFDTC, Mr Myint Sein-2 presented an overview of the current curricula, field exercises, progress and achievements and requirements for teaching aids, materials and equipment.

After that, the Mapping Exercise of existing gaps and needs in existing curricula by three groups depend on the thematic topics is provided and presented the results.

The workshop is successfully finished in 5PM.
