The two-day workshop was organized from 18-1-2020 to 19-1-2020 at Kyun Yadanar Hall of Myanmar Forest School, Pyin Oo Lwin. The activity was part of the Letter of Agreement between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and University of Forestry and Environmental Science-Yezin (UFES), which aims to contribute to the implementation of the project “Sustainable Cropland and Forest Management in Priority Agro-ecosystems of Myanmar (GCP/MYA/017/GFF).”
At the workshop, U Kyaw Kyaw Lwin, Deputy Director General (Policy and Planning) of Forest Department delivered the opening remarks. Present at the workshop were Directors of Forest Department Head office, Nay Pyi Taw, rector and teaching staff of UFES, Researchers from Forest Research Institute (FRI)-Yezin, principle of the Central Forestry Development Training Center (CFDTC)-Hmaw-Bi, principle of Myanmar Forest School (MFS), FAO team led by Mr Xavier Bouan, Senior Technical Advisor of the SLM project. During the workshop, the subjects that need to be revised and upgraded by incorporating ecosystem-based forest management principles and best international practices for forestry training were identified.
